- Beetal: Originating from India, the Beetal is a very high milk producing goat breed found mostly in Punjab and Haryana. Suitable for commercial meat production, they can adapt themselves to any environment and climate easily. They are characterised by a large well developed body with a short lustrous coat, long flat drooping ears, thick, medium sized horns with a slight twist directed backward and upward and a small, thin tail.

- Barbari: The Barbari or Bari is a breed of small domestic goat mostly found in the north-western arid and semi-arid regions of India. The Barbari has a compact form. The head is small and neat, with small upward-pointing ears and small horns. The coat is short and is most commonly white spotted with brownish red. The Barbari is a dual-purpose breed, reared both for meat and for milk, and is well adapted for Indian conditions. It is a robust breed less prone to common diseases.

- Black Bengal: It is a small sized, meat type, early maturing, non-seasonal livestock found it eastern regions of India and Bangladesh. They are brand chested with short to medium horns and short legs. While they do produce milk, they are mainly raised for their meat which is very tasty and more nutritious than other varieties.

- Osmanabadi: The Osmanabadi goat is an Indian goat breed which is native to Maharashtra. The name of this breed derives from it's place of origin Osmanabad. Although suitable for both meat and milk production, they are raised mainly for meat production, because of their finest quality meat. Among the registered goat breeds in India, the Osmanabadi goat has great demand in the market for their meat. It is called as farmers true breed due to it's ability to make more profits in less time and without a very high cost of feeding and caring. They are medium to large in size and the coat colour is predominantly black. They have long legs and medium to long ears. Most of the bucks are horned.

- Sirohi: The Sirohi goat is a dual-purpose compact, medium sized goat breed reared for both meat and milk production however, the milk production is relatively less. This goat is named after its actual breeding tract, Sirohi district of Rajasthan. They have compact cylindrical to conical body. Coat colour is predominantly brown and brown with light to dark brown patches. Ears are generally flat and leaf like, medium sized. Both males and females have horns which are generally curved upward and backward with pointed tips.

- Sojat: Sojat goat is a heavy breed and very suitable for meat production. It originates from Rajasthan and is cross bred from the Jamnapari goat. It's milk production is very low and it is therefore, mostly raised for its meat. Sojat is tall in height and can be identified with their long flat drooping ears and short tails an no horns. It is commonly sacrificed during the Bakri-Eid Festival.
